Autumn Loop

1.
Let the dreams die, let them wither It'll never happen, that'll never happen The beach is my place, somewhere to grow up Washed away with the shingle and the souls Why do I fall in love with anyone who'll pay me attention You will sleep, I will write things down In my head it's never perfect I can see myself growing old Years fly by, this beach song is my youth Why do I think so much? Is it too much time alone? I'll pull the moon down, I'll fuck your tides up I'll play this beach song, I'll stop the time flow
2.
Green Eyes 07:10
I found an old notebook today, the pages were filled with lists And a drawing you had done for me; I remember trying to seem enthused But I liked that you created things and that you believed in everything That the world would want to stop, all in spite of you, dear They're tarmacking up the road again and the leaves are falling down The sun chose to show its face today, all in spite of you, dear Your green eyes look up A book of drunk poetry and a couple of CDs the novelty bottle opener all wrapped in brown paper Well I guess I was grateful, I don't know if that was mutual But just one last phone call, then off into the night with you
3.
The way the sun stuck to your head when you flipped your hair The way the light bounced off my blade and met your glare It all means nothing when you're dead The way you clawed at my shirt when I held your face The only part I ever enjoyed was the thrill of the chase It all means nothing when you're dead It all means shit The way I presented you to the pigs That creek will always remind me of my youth He said "don't disappoint the Lord, my son." He's dead, he's dead, he's dead to me
4.
I can see your spine through your skin, and it scares me half to death I've got four fingers and a thumb and it scares me half to death I can see your face underneath all the so-called make-up and it scares me half to death It scares me half to death You don't need to wear glamorous things for me to be obsessed What do I really know? They say you get wiser with age It scares me half to death In this faded light a new one is born into another harsh existence It scares me half to death
5.
Let It Spin 03:37
She will have eyes like the river in spring She will wander the ocean floor She will rise above the bullshit storm She will tear the mountains down There's endless wooden doors, my fists can't break them down Take my hand and let the globe spin She will take my hand with a gentle touch She will lead me out to sea She will climb the branches of the tallest trees She will glow a foggy white Well I'm trapped under the ocean bed But my bones can set me free Take my hand and let the globe spin Well I'm stuck up in the tallest tree But I don't want to climb back down So take my hand and let the globe spin
6.
Dancing down this aged ground, there's three of me to be tamed So you said, I'll never forget One twilight chance it flew right past, I still remember because nothing's got better So you said, I'm looking for a friend I'm behind evaporated seconds, everybody has grown up so fast So you said, I'm just having fun Want some time to fly by, I seem to be a magnet for the cats So you said, by the swings And the sky is so open with the stars looking down Oh what a night dear, Tokoloshe he sang Inamorata I still need you Inamorata I still breathe you Summer's up, September is here, my mind is getting deeper So you said, in the dark of night Inamorata I still need you Inamorata I still breathe you
7.
Opened eyes a bright white light Lock the house that theme tune plays Survey the ground, look for clues A falling leaf knows the truth The painted lines hold the key A cone stands still whilst rubbish moves Journeying further along the road I've almost made it to my field There is where she waits, I'll pull myself over the sties A force is running under ground, I'm almost free The donkeys say hello and goodbye I'm heading down to the river The bugs have crowded ready for lunch A broken bottle stabbed in the ground I know I've lived a joyous life I close my eyes and fall asleep
8.
Is this how I'm supposed to feel every time you leave? Even our special day contained his name When all this started I was happy; now I'm just lost Cos if you say you love me, why didn't you just roll his head right off? When you say you want me, I find it hard to believe You said you didn't like it when I got drunk and danced around Well you fucking disrespect me every time you say those words Can you honestly see a future when you treat me like this? Can you honestly see a future when you treat me like your bitch? Honey I just wanted to be your one Beginning or end? I think we both know which it is
9.
Sea Change 04:29
She asked you to be careful, she packed you a lunch box too But you paid little attention, went on swimming through Then that current it got you, there's no time left to breathe That poor little boy, his mother she blames herself She put her flowers down, an article in the news Is what her son's reduced to; the pain it grows with age That poor little boy, his mother she blames herself The sea will change it will

about

Recorded way back in 2008/9, Autumn Loop was/is the first record recorded by the original "Eyes Like The Sky" line-up: Rob Holt, Mike Breach and Alex Watson; additional help from Steve Bega and Hag Stephenson.

It was originally intended to be released on the Wonderland Avenue record label (they went bust, unfortunately) so has remained in the vaults ever since... Here it be, you lucky things...

Bonus track "Lunar" might just be included, too...
