Clapham Change Over
02:52

This is a South West Trains service to London Waterloo
Calling at the Airport Parkway, Winchester, Basingstoke and Woking, too
If you want to get to Gatwick Airport you've gotta change at Clapham Junction
You have to run from platform 9 to get to platform 13 in time
Mind the gap
When you get on that second train service enjoy the views of East Croydon
You'll see the floodlights at Selhurst Park as you speed towards the port
And Easy Jet was surprisingly fucking easy
I printed our tickets off at work
Now off to Spain
We go off to Spain

Open roads, swimming pools and cathedrals
We walked down that Avenue
Passed the fountain, passed those grand tall buildings
Some of them are now H&M
And the sun never seemed to set
Open roads, swimming pools and cathedrals
We navigated to our hotel room
Then to the rooftop with its dark, frozen water
I held you close and I felt content
The light from the cathedral reflected in your eyes
We sat on the steps listening to a man playing nylon string guitar
Dressed in our best, on our way off to Pla
Open roads, swimming pools and cathedrals
The night set in, the moon said hello

Recommended by the Lonely Planet
Tucked away at the side of a winding street
Procrastination at the menu then we went inside
Up the mahogany stairs to the mezzanine
Sat inside that restaurant with your beautiful face, opposite me
Sat inside that restaurant with you, honey
It was called Pla
Pan-handle breads, local beers and wines
Gross aperitifs, tomatoes on the vine
She ordered octopus, I ordered pork
Shared a saffron crème brûlée to finish the job
Sat inside that restaurant with your beautiful face, opposite me
Sat inside that restaurant with you, honey
It was called Pla
The dusty red lamp lighting up your sweet face
Whilst the luteist played with a clarinet accompaniment
Sat inside that restaurant with your beautiful face, opposite me
Sat inside that restaurant with you, honey
It was called Pla

Coffee & Parrots
05:10

I drank my coffee with the parrots
We took that underground train, to the start of the day's adventure
And they're good in Spain, cos they give you the choice: stairs or the escalator
Stop for a coffee at the Lavazza
Heavy breathing, cos we're pale tourists
We reached the top and took in the view
There's a sign that reads: you might have forgotten, that you're hungry or thirsty. I never do.
A Spanish honky played the resonator guitar
I drank my coffee with the parrots
So we sat on that bench, there was no one around, it was so peaceful
Over fresh croissants we discussed the future and I could see the ocean all the way from there
I think we'll be back to visit our green parrot chums
We drank our coffee with the parrots
Yeah we'll be back on this same bench, with this same coffee
And I hold your hand, we'll reminisce on this sweet time
We'll be back to laugh at the fat Americans wearing fanny packs outside of their shirts
We'll be back to do Karate Kid impressions inside the catacombs
We'll be back to wave at our green parrot chums as they play inside their nests
But I promise you this next time I won't be wearing that green t-shirt
I promise you this, I promise you this

We ate fried green pimentos at the flea market
We ate fried green pimentos and a cup of whitebait

We arrived there early found a seat at a café had ourselves an ice cream and a beer
The ice cream was an egg-yolk vanilla in a gothic tower cone, we did approve
Out came our home-printed tickets, she scanned 'em with her gizmo we went through the door
You took my picture with that stone turtle; I took yours from the floor
You're more beautiful than stained glass
You're more beautiful than that
So inside the church we went it looked very mathematical with all its shapes
There's a window called the light and it burns really bright with its droll, autumnal hues
You were a silhouette against that palette, inside the Sagrada Familia
You're more beautiful than stained glass
You're more beautiful than that
And I know that you don't believe me but I mean every soppy word
You're more beautiful than stained glass
You're more beautiful than that

We could not stop laughing
It's a chubby tat-filled road that they call Las Ramblas and if you want drugs then it's the place to go
Down the barrel on the left is where you'll see that dark hobbity pub where we started corpsing over thumbin' it in
Bosque de la Fades
We could not stop laughing
Kicking it at the marina is where we saw those dirty grey mullet swimming around in the petrol filled water
And I guess I must be lucky today cos the seagulls hit me like I was a plant in desperate need of water
We could not stop laughing
The sights the food and the alcohol
Your perfect company and the sun's sweet glow
I never want to go back home
I never want to go back home
We could not stop laughing

As we headed down into the subway I got thinking about my past and how difficult it is to say goodbye
To a place that I've lived in and loved but it gets easier as you get older
I cannot think why
I had flashbacks of that trip, it was autumn 09 in New York's Upper West Side full of brown and yellow leaves
I remember us shaking hands and seeing a few tears
I gazed back at the subway and I cried
So as I took in one last scent of Barcelona I looked down at your sweet face and thought it's so much nicer to share
In these moments with someone that you love cos it makes taking the farewell blues that much easier

South West Trains Fiasco
03:12
|
|||
South West Trains, our flight got in early we were making such good time
That didn't last long; our connecting train at a standstill in Croydon
South West Trains, we nearly made it but the door slammed in my baby's face
South West Trains, you made us run
South West Trains, what a fiasco
Now I've got a pissed off girlfriend staring at her phone
Luckily your shop was open so I got her a Coke
Oh South West Trains
South West Trains, pacing up and down the platform like a caged lioness
My baby's got a car, she doesn't care for your waiting
South West Trains, 50 minutes later we finally climbed aboard
Your poor conductor got her cold shoulder
South West Trains, what a fiasco
The journey home was fine there was no replacement bus
She whispered in my ear: "Next time I'm driving, that's a must."
Oh South West Trains
Oh South West Trains
I think you've lost a customer for life
