Dropped the bags down at the Adante hotel, then we hit the streets
Waltzed up through Union Square, into Chinatown, Grace Cathedral Park
Over to Washington Square, on to North Beach, then we made the wharf
The smell of a million tonnes of barking flesh held the Friscan air

There ain't nothing crooked about you, Lombard Street
San Francisco

Jumped in a taxi cab, asked for 23rd and Mission, please
He said: "I won't take you there, you'll get shot in the ass - try Valencia."
Well we ended up at an Irish bar on Geary Street
Drank with Irish Mick and a Liverpudlian, then we made our escape

Sang songs with a homeless guy, we sang Let's Get It On
San Francisco

Made our way across that famous bridge
To that little town in the hills
Then to Ocean Beach, the Gate's Park
Whilst the windmill watched over us
Then to hippy land, full of junked-up fiends
Seemed like a different place
Then I shared a smoke with the Buster-man
He was quite a find, San Francisco

I've walked the streets that Kozelek's walked
Drank in bars where Eitzel's been drunk
I've stood the ground where Milk stood his
For peace in his heart
